The U14 Ludlow Blast won the Mass Tournament of Champions in
Lancaster, Mass. on June 29th. This tournament brings
together over 200 teams from throughout the state, each of which has
earned the honor of representing their league in this prestigious
tournament. Mass. Youth Soccer currently has 10 different leagues
across the state participating in this event.
The Ludlow Blast qualified for this tournament by winning the U14
girls Division 1 age group this spring in the Pioneer Valley League.
Their record this spring was 13 -1 – 0.
The three day tournament was held on the new Citizen Bank Fields
from June 27th thru June 29th. The Blast won their first
match against Sandwich, Mass. on Friday 3 - 1. They played two more
matches on Saturday defeating Walpole, Mass. 3 -2 and Dalton, Mass.
1 – 0. These three victories advanced the Blast to the semi finals
against a very strong Shrewsbury team. Sunday morning the Blast
defeated Shrewsbury in their semi-final match 2 – 0 which setup the
final match against the defending champions Dartmouth. Ludlow scored
3 minutes into the final match and scored one more in the second
half to win the championship 2 - 0. |
